Over the last few months, I’ve been learning a lot about you guys. I’ve been learning your personalities, your interests, your pet peeves, and what part your faith plays in your lives. A lot of you… most of you… I think would claim to be ‘saved’ Christians. As your youth minister, and as a generally cynical person, I always wonder if the decisions we made at children (or maybe more recently) are really based in what the Bible would call “following Christ”. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to go through a few hard questions that I want all of you to ask yourselves.
- Do I know, submit, and commit to the God who saves me?
- Does my heart reflect God’s desire?
- Does my mind reflect God’s Will?
Some of these may sound like deep, brooding questions, but they are really extremely practical. What it all boils down to is whether I, as someone who wears the title ‘Christian’, have truly know and follow the Christ who saves me from my sin. Do I even really know what any of that means in my mind, my heart, and my actions? These are the questions we will work through over the next few weeks.
